PC David Rathband’s Blue Lamp Foundation (‘we’ or ‘us’) are a ‘data controller’ for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998, (ie we are responsible for, and control the processing of, your personal information).

The types of information collected might include names, date of birth, e-mail address, postal address, telephone number, fax number and credit/debit card details. We collect information directly from users when they voluntarily submit their personal information to us via registration forms on our web site or in correspondence or when received from third parties.

At certain parts of our web site, we may provide the opportunity for users to register for an event or order goods, join a mailing list or request information. We reserve the right to add to the list of opportunities currently available to our users enabling them to interact with us.

Your name, home address, email, telephone number, DOB, occupation and employer and details of your injury and support needed as part of your grant application.

Some examples of when we collect this information include:

When making a purchase in our online shop, when making an online enquiry about our charity, when making a grant application, when applying to fundraise for us.

b) Sensitive personal information

Sensitive personal information includes any information which relates to the following:

your ethnic origin
your political opinions
your religious beliefs
whether you belong to a trade union
your physical or mental health or condition
your sexual life, and
whether you have committed a criminal offence

We may request that you provide sensitive information, but if we do, we will in every instance explain why we are requesting it and how we intent to use it. We will only collect your sensitive personal information with your explicit consent.

Some examples of when we may request sensitive personal information include:

When applying for a grant from the Foundation, we will ask you to provide details of the incident which occurred, the nature of your injuries and what help and support you require from the Foundation as part of your mental and physical rehabilitation.

c) Personal information you provide about third parties

If you give us information about another person, you confirm that the other person has appointed you to act on their behalf and agreed that you:

shall consent on their behalf to the processing of their personal data;
shall receive any data protection notices on their behalf;
shall consent on their behalf to the transfer of their personal data abroad; and
shall consent on their behalf to the processing of their sensitive personal data.

 

How Do We Collect Information?

We will obtain personal information from you when you enquire about our activities, register with us, send or receive an email, make a donation to us or otherwise provide us with personal information. We may also receive information about you from third parties, for example from a friend who wants to tell you about the website.

 

How do we use this information?

We will use your personal information to provide you with the services, products or information you have requested, for administration purposes and to further our charitable aims, including for fundraising activities.

Our partners, JustGiving and PayPal use a secure server when you make a donation to us online. We also take appropriate measures to ensure that the information disclosed to us is kept secure, accurate and up to date and kept only for so long as is necessary for the purposes for which it is used.

 

However, while we will use all reasonable efforts to secure your personal data, in using the site you acknowledge that the use of the internet is not entirely secure and for this reason we cannot guarantee the security or integrity of any personal data that are transferred from you or to you via the internet.
